The problem with the life vest

Every life vest on an airplane is a high-tech product, designed to save lives. And yet, it is almost never used. (Thankfully!) After ten years at the latest, it is decommissioned, disposed of, or incinerated. A virtually unused material, elaborately produced and simply wasted.

01

Our Mission

We give life jackets a second life. BAG TO LIFE represents the combination of aviation, sustainability, and design, as well as the conviction that valuable materials shouldn't end up in the trash but deserve a new story.

02

How we make sustainable products from life jackets

We source discarded life jackets directly from airlines before they are disposed of. Their complex shape is transformed into unique products through careful development. Each piece is handcrafted in family-run manufactories in Europe, with the aim of making sensible use of as much material as possible.

03

Our Impact through Upcycling and COâ‚‚ Reduction

What used to be disposed of after just a few years now accompanies people in their daily lives for many more years. This significantly extends the product life cycle, avoids waste, and actively saves COâ‚‚. Since 2010, we have processed over 175,000 life rafts and saved more than 600,000 kg of COâ‚‚.

04

Our Vision for Sustainable Aviation Innovation

We want to accompany people on their journeys with products that are not only functional but also tell stories. Our vision is a world where materials live longer, are used more consciously, and the fascination of aviation is carried into everyday life.

Before / After

On average, life vests fly for five to ten years on an airplane. After that, we extend their life cycle as a bag, backpack or accessory!
